Bailey, Brielle & Emery Cousin's day out-we try to do this weekly. |
I have one word for this day(today)...BBbbrrrrrr!!!!
I know, I know, it is still winter and what can you expect when you live in Utah and try to get out of the house because you are tired of kids (& adults) with cabin fever. It was the warmest day of the week-53 degrees, but the wind chill and being closer to the mountain made it almost unbearable. Thankfully once you were actually down in the zoo, the wind went away and it became doable. Especially since most animals were inside and the sun kept peeking through the blanket of clouds. Overall it turned out to be a good day! As long as you are bundled up, the winter really is the best time to go to the zoo. The animals are awake and wandering around their habitats and no crowds and no humid stinky cages to smell. The leopard was right in our faces pacing back and forth which was so cool to see! The baby elephant and mother were up close and personal eating. The gorillas came right to the windows- even mooned us a couple times (funny how you can get a kick out the funny simple things they do). Giraffes could have eaten right out of our hands, if we were those kind of people who feed the animals against all zoo regulations! Still so cool to see them so close! The 3 tiger cubs, which are now larger than their mother were the only ones asleep, but they were spread out right at the front of their cages so we still got to see them up close. Such beautiful animals! I would love to be their keeper for a day-most dangerous I am sure, but most exciting! Anyhow, another fun cousin day at the zoo.
