Our Brave Brighton

Here is our brave Brighton wearing the cone of shame. Last month Brighton was attacked by what we think was a raccoon! It could have been a cat, but our neighbor did see a raccoon running across our street shortly after the incident. I heard the attack in the night and thought that maybe Jeremy would go out and find a dead cat the next morning. Instead we found our injured dog. He was bit right under his left arm, basically in the armpit and it became infected and swelled up his whole leg. We gave him ibuprofen (not knowing the seriousness of the matter at that point) and he acted fine for a couple days and then Jeremy came home from work to find the wound had burst! He took him to the vet and a big chunk of $$ later we had our dog as you see below. He had to have surgery to remove the excess dead hanging skin and sew him back together. A few days later he had to be stitched a second time because it came undone. Just as a little side note, the day after all this happened, I sold my car (yeah!!!!)  and needless to say all the money we got from my car went to our doggy. A few friends said they would've put their dog down if it had been them, but we couldn't see doing that since he is not too old yet and really isn't sick, just had a sore, so we forked out the money and kept our dog. He has been a really good dog along with his brother Trigger and they have done well protecting our home against raccoon, skunk and other random animals. Thankfully that has all they have had to handle. They were our first kids so we kind of love them the same.

Halloween

We were quite the mixed up bunch this year. No coordinating in costumes besides Landon and myself. Brielle wanted to be Super Girl or Bat Girl or Mulan or Snow White- really it depended on the day what she wanted to be, but once I borrowed this costume from my cousin and showed it to her, she was pretty happy with being Super Girl!!! Here she is all ready to go to her party at preschool.

After preschool and naps we all got ready and headed to our ward house parking lot for some Trunk-or-Treating. We loved the costumes of our neighbor kids too! Someday I may need to be Mary Poppins-love that idea! Her dad was Bert too! So cool! If you can't tell what Landon is, he is a vintage circus muscleman. We made a barbell for him to hold, but the weights were balloons and they pooped the first 15 min after getting there. So to go with Landon's costume I decided to be the circus leader/ lion tamer/ entertainer, whatever you want to label it as.

Jeremy decided to do as an oldy, but a goody and was (if you don't know) Hulk Hogan!!! It is scary how well he pulls this off. Here are my two strong men- so cute!

Landon thought Halloween was so fun! I am glad he didn't get scared by costumes and enjoyed it since our family kind of LOVES Halloween! His mustache is so cute!! He even sat so still while Jeremy drew it on.

Lando

It's been a while since I posted about Landon and really I just wanted to put this picture in our blog. He was so smiley this morning. I am not sure why he is in the hallway, but I am sure we needed him strapped in while Brielle and I got something done. But by the looks of the pic-he is not complaining!

One "Tough Mudder"

I should really be letting Jeremy handle this post as he knows most about this, but since he is at work I will give the basics and he can go into detail about it later. On October 13th Jeremy participated in the Tough Mudder challenge. It is a 12 mile run/ obstacle course created to be like British Opps courses. It took place out in Tooele and he got a team together with co-workers at Johnson Matthey. It was very physically and mentally challenging, but Jeremy was dedicated to getting ready in the prior months. It paid off! He lead his team through most challenges and even though it was exhausting and cold, he is ready to sign up for the next one. How cold you ask? Well it started out as a cloudy 40 degree day with wind chill and then throw in below 30 degree water challenges. Brain freezing cold! I am so impressed by what he had achieved and very proud to be his wife. And no, I will not be participating next time- I don't like to torture myself for fun.

A Summer of "Firsts"

Two weeks ago we celebrated Landon's 1st Birthday!!
This year has gone by so fast that I am worried I haven't sat back and enjoyed the little moments, at least not like I did with Brielle's first year. Guess that is how it goes when you have more kids, and just one of the things I am thinking about while considering having more kids.
We celebrated at Wheatland Park with mainly family and one family of friends that has a little girl Landon's age. Really his main friend since Brielle & her siblings are BFF's. We had sloppy joes, salads, fruit & chips. & then cake of course. We got all the meal out of the way just in time for the weather to turn cool, so we packed up and went home to open presents.

This kids didn't hesitate for a moment in digging into his cake. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of his cake (I am just now realizing). But I have video of it! I put a cake in the back of a Dump Truck to look like mud. Landon' two favorite things are Dirt & Water which =MUD! That was my theme for the party. We also had another bulldozer pushing Mud cupcakes. Thanks to all those that came and celebrated with us! We appreciate and love you!

Our other first this Summer/Fall is Brielle's first day of Preschool!!!!
She attends at Ms. Kathy's- a neighborhood preschool & loves it!
She even asks on Saturdays if she can go to school. She has already learned so much! She is excited that she knows all of the Pledge of Allegiance by heart and is learning many other songs and sayings. She is learning letters, phonics, numbers, sign language, some spanish & some science projects. I can't believe she is already at the age to go to school! My little girl is growing up so fast!

Such the little poser!

Spring & Summer Rewind

Our Spring and Summer have been, well...busy. Surprised!? It seems that is what I say every time I post
(2 or 3x a year). But really that is what our life is. Time flies all too quickly and I find fewer moments to jump on here and update. Not to mention my handicap of working with blogger. So lets begin...
Here is our cute Landon, he was about 6 mos in this picture & now he is twice that, yup he is a yr now. But we will get to that later.

10 mos here. He is a climber, get-into-everything, curious, daring boy!

This summer we had a family reunion, probably like most of you!
My kids liked the toys the cousins brought along.

It wouldn't be Summer without Sprinklers!!!
Landon, Benson & Brielle
 this kid loves water!

We actually made a trip to Manti too! & it wouldn't be a trip to Manti without 4-wheeling!!

Corn...Yum!!! (a few more teeth)

For Pioneer Day we went to Spanish Fork to be with the Stilsons & the Lee family for Fiesta Days
Landon & Grandma Stilson

& with Grandpa Stilson too!
You have to see a parade on Pioneer Day!

Jeremy had to work on Pioneer Day, but we got home in time to do some fireworks as a family. Our neighborhood is pretty impressive with fireworks too.

Landon picked Pioneer Day to take his first steps too. He was a little wobbly, but pretty determined.

Johnson Mathey (Jeremy's work) had their Summer BBQ @ the zoo!

The new Grizzly Bear exhibit was awesome! They were very active& fun to see!

The animals must have known that JM reserved the whole zoo that evening just for us. They were actually awake and moving, unlike most hot summer days.

The zoo even allowed unlimited rides on the carousel and train!

Thumbs up to Jeremy's trophy deer
Jeremy won this target at an archery contest, along with an oil painting. I tell him all the time that he is lucky. He definitely was this day. Hundreds of hunters were in for both drawings & he got two prizes!

Happy kids!

Did I mention sprinklers earlier? And that Landon loves water?
Not many days passed without this being our nightly ritual. We don't have an AC-does that explain why?
Correction-We have an AC, it just isn't installed yet-but hopefully this weekend, now that the weather is cool. Perfect timing!

~Brielle~

Landon-all prettied up by sister.

All worn out. I always wanted to see one of my kids fall asleep in the high chair. I was hoping with face down in spaghetti, but this is good enough. He was patiently waiting for me to be done with hair.

We had many days at the pool. Mainly Seven Peaks, but this was a spur of the moment trip to Magna pool & splash pad. Camryn & Brielle had a great time! They both liked to show us how they could swim underwater. That was one of Brielle's accomplishments this year. We are so proud of her!

Well there is still more summer to see, so I will do a part 2 next.
