Jeremy and I were asked to be Tribal Parents for our Youth Conference this year. In a nut shell the youth of the stake were all divided up into tribes and then given tribal parents, a name from the Book of Mormon and then they re-enacted the major events of the Book of Mormon. We were all to wear clothes that were worn during those times as well.
We were team yellow, so we picked the name "Amarillo Sol" meaning Yellow Sun.
We met with our tribe for many months making swords and decorating shields and a banner.

We had a fun time at camp, getting to know our youth and the Book of Mormon better. The last day at camp we gathered around a fire pit and they had a scene where all the past prophets whose scenes had been re-enacted earlier in the week walked up to "Joseph Smith" and handed him their history. All while Praise to the Man was being played. Then all the Priests and Laurels walked up to the front singing Called to Serve in their Sunday best and then announced where they were called to serve in the next few months. It was a very powerful and spiritual moment-the greatest of the whole week, and a great way to end Youth Conference.
The next day in Sacrament the speakers didn't show up for sacrament so they called us up out of the blue to talk about our experiences at youth conference. Jeremy and I were quite caught off guard, but it was great to share what we had experienced over the weekend.
